The ISCAR 6003098 is a solid carbide grooving insert in the PENTA series, designed for precise grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries the IC1008 manufacturer grade and features a PVD-applied TiAlN and TiN multilayer coating that improves wear resistance and thermal stability during cutting. The insert is left-hand oriented with a 1.5 mm cutting width and a maximum depth of cut of 5 mm. The PENTA24L150J06J geometry includes a J chip breaker and a 0.10 mm corner radius, producing consistent chip control across a wide range of workpiece materials. Machinists and CNC operators install this insert as a direct replacement or initial tooling in PENTA-compatible toolholders.
This insert is suited for grooving operations on universal workpiece materials, covering ISO material groups H, K, M, N, P, and S. That range includes steels, stainless steels, cast irons, non-ferrous metals, high-temperature alloys, and hardened materials. Typical applications include external grooving, face grooving, and light parting on small-to-medium diameter workpieces in production and job-shop turning environments. The lead angle of 6 degrees supports controlled entry and stable cutting on tight-tolerance grooves. Both production shops and toolroom setups use this insert size for precision grooving where consistent width and depth repeatability are required.
Designed for use with PENTA-series left-hand grooving toolholders that accept the 24L150J06 insert size. Compatible across material grades C1, C2, C3, C5, and C6 workpiece classifications per ISO groupings H, K, M, N, P, and S.
This insert is installed and replaced by a machinist or CNC toolroom technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or removing the insert. Use the correct ISCAR PENTA toolholder clamp and torque driver as specified by the toolholder manufacturer - do not substitute fasteners. Inspect the insert pocket for debris or damage before seating to ensure correct insert registration and cutting edge alignment.
