The ISCAR 6003097 is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for precision external grooving and parting operations on CNC turning centers and lathes. Carrying the grade designation IC1008 with a PVD-applied TiAlN and TiN coating, this insert delivers hard, wear-resistant cutting edges suited for a wide range of workpiece materials. It features a 1.5 mm cutting width and a maximum depth of cut of 5 mm, making it a practical choice for shallow-to-medium groove profiles. The PENTA insert style uses a screw clamping method for positive, repeatable seating in compatible toolholders. Machinists and CNC operators working in production turning environments install and index this insert as a standard consumable tooling item.
This insert is engineered for universal primary workpiece material application, covering ISO material groups H, K, M, N, P, and S. That range includes carbon steels, alloy steels, stainless steels, cast irons, non-ferrous metals, and high-temperature alloys. It is used in both roughing and finishing grooving passes where dimensional accuracy at the groove width is critical. The right-hand cutting orientation suits standard lathe setups. It belongs to the PENTA series and is sold individually per package, with a minimum order quantity of 5 units.
Designed for use with PENTA series toolholders accepting the 24R150J06D insert size. Compatible across ISO workpiece material groups H, K, M, N, P, and S as designated in the product specifications. Verify toolholder pocket geometry and insert size code before installation.
This insert is installed and replaced by a machinist or CNC tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing any insert. Use the manufacturer-specified torque wrench and screw for the clamping screw to avoid seat damage or insert breakage. Inspect the toolholder pocket for wear or debris before seating a new insert, and confirm cutting direction and offset values in the machine controller after any insert change.
