The ISCAR 6003092 is a solid carbide grooving insert in the PENTA series, designed for external grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries the PENTA 24N318J020 insert size code and is manufactured to IC908 grade with a PVD-applied TiAlN coating, which provides thermal resistance and wear protection across a wide range of workpiece materials. The neutral hand orientation makes it suitable for straight plunge grooving. Cutting width is 3.18 mm (0.1252 inches) with a maximum depth of cut of 6.5 mm (0.256 inches) and a corner radius of 0.20 mm (0.0079 inches). Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this insert as part of ISCAR PENTA tooling system assemblies.
This insert is suited for production turning environments in both job shop and high-volume machining settings. Its IC908 grade with TiAlN finish targets universal application across steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous alloys, and high-temperature alloys, as reflected by the primary workpiece material codes H, K, M, P, and S. The J chip breaker geometry is designed to control chip flow during grooving at moderate to aggressive feed rates. It is appropriate for both wet and dry cutting conditions depending on workpiece material requirements.
Designed for use in ISCAR PENTA series grooving toolholders and blade systems that accept the 24N insert size. Primary workpiece material compatibility includes material grade codes C1, C2, C6, and C7, with ISO application codes H, K, M, P, and S covering hardened materials, cast iron, stainless steel, steel, and high-temperature alloys respectively.
Installation is performed by qualified CNC machinists or toolroom technicians. The machine spindle must be fully stopped and the tool turret indexed to a safe position before seating or removing inserts. Use the appropriate ISCAR insert key or torx driver specified for the PENTA toolholder to achieve correct clamping without over-torquing the pocket screw. Inspect the insert pocket for wear or debris before seating a new insert to ensure proper seating and dimensional accuracy.
