The ISCAR 6003040 is a double-ended solid carbide cutoff and grooving insert from the Do-Grip series, designed for precision parting and grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries the IC1028 manufacturer grade with a PVD-applied TiAlN and TiN coating, delivering wear resistance and thermal stability in demanding cutting environments. The insert features a 3.1 mm cutting width (0.1220 inches), a neutral lead angle, and a neutral hand orientation, with a 0.20 mm corner radius. Maximum depth of cut reaches 18.00 mm (0.7087 inches), making it capable of handling moderate stock removal in grooving and parting applications.
This insert is suited for machining stainless steel and steel workpieces, corresponding to ISO material codes M and P. It fits standard Do-Grip toolholders that accept the DGN 3102 insert size code. The double-ended design extends usable insert life, making it a practical choice for production turning environments where tool economy and consistent performance matter. Licensed machinists and CNC setup technicians working in job shops, aerospace component manufacturing, and general metalworking will find this insert appropriate for moderate to high-volume grooving and parting cycles.
Designed for use with Do-Grip series toolholders that accept the DGN 3102 insert size. Compatible with ISO material groups M (stainless steel) and P (steel). Material grades C5 and C6 are supported.
Installation of carbide grooving and cutoff inserts should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC technician with the machine powered down and in a locked-out, zero-energy state. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping seat for chips or debris before seating the insert. Use the appropriate torx or clamp screw driver specified for the Do-Grip toolholder to secure the insert without over-torquing the clamp mechanism. Verify insert orientation and overhang before resuming cutting operations.
