The ISCAR 6002964 is a carbide cutoff and grooving insert designed for precision parting and grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries the DGN4003C geometry with an IC908 manufacturer grade, a PVD-applied coating, and a 4 mm (0.1575 inch) cutting width. The neutral lead angle and neutral hand orientation make it straightforward to apply without tool-side bias. Part of the Do-Grip series, this insert is held in place by a clamp-style toolholder. The IC908 grade is a coated carbide suited for a broad range of workpiece materials, and the C chipbreaker geometry supports chip control across those applications. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working in production or job-shop environments are the primary installers.
This insert is intended for grooving and parting applications across a universal range of primary workpiece materials, including steels, stainless steels, cast irons, non-ferrous metals, and high-temperature alloys, as reflected by the ISO material group codes H, K, M, P, and S. The Do-Grip series is engineered for secure clamping under the cutting forces typical of cutoff work. The 0.30 mm corner radius supports controlled entry and finish at the groove floor. This insert is a match for both light-production and high-volume turning operations where consistent groove width and reliable chip evacuation are priorities.
Designed for use with Do-Grip series clamp-style toolholders that accept DGN insert geometry. Suitable for grooving and parting across ISO material groups H, K, M, and P, and S. Material grades C1, C2, C6, and C7 are listed. Refer to the ISCAR Do-Grip toolholder selection guide to confirm blade and holder compatibility before ordering.
Insert seating and clamping should be performed with the machine spindle fully stopped and all energy sources locked out per applicable shop safety procedures. Use the correct Do-Grip clamping key or wrench to seat the clamp; do not use improvised tools that could damage the insert pocket or clamp. Inspect the insert pocket and clamp for chips or wear before installing a fresh insert. Minimum order quantity for this insert is 10 pieces.
