The ISCAR 6002860 is a solid carbide cutoff and grooving insert from the Self-Grip series, designed for precision parting and grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries the IC328 manufacturer grade with a PVD coating, delivering hardness and edge toughness suited for superalloy and general metal cutting applications. The insert features a 0.2524 inch (6.41 mm) cutting width, a neutral lead angle, a 7-degree relief angle, and a 0.0157 inch (0.40 mm) corner radius. The B chipbreaker geometry promotes controlled chip formation during deep grooving and parting cuts. This insert is a single-end design held by a clamp-style toolholder.
This insert is intended for grooving and parting applications in production turning environments, including aerospace and general machining shops working with superalloys, steels, and other ISO-classified workpiece materials. The IC328 PVD-coated grade is specifically suited for primary workpiece materials classified under ISO material codes M, P, and S. It fits Self-Grip series toolholders that accept the GFN 6B insert style and size code 6 geometry. Sold individually with a minimum order quantity of 10 units.
Designed for use with ISCAR Self-Grip series clamping toolholders that accept GFN insert style with size code 6. Compatible with toolholders suited for material grades C2, C3, C5, and C6 applications.
Insert installation and replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician with the machine fully powered down and spindle locked. Use the manufacturer-recommended torque driver or clamping key for the Self-Grip holder to seat the insert securely without over-tightening the clamp. Inspect the insert pocket and clamp for wear or debris before seating a new insert. Follow the toolholder manufacturer guidelines and applicable shop safety procedures when setting cutting parameters for superalloy workpieces.
