The ISCAR 6002839 is a solid carbide milling insert in the GSFN 2 IC908 configuration, designed for high-performance grooving and parting operations on CNC milling platforms. Manufactured from submicron-grade solid carbide and coated with TiAlN via a PVD process, this insert delivers thermal resistance and edge stability across demanding cutting applications. It features a positive rake geometry with a honed cutting edge style, a 7-degree relief angle, and a neutral hand orientation. The insert measures 0.0787 inches wide with a corner radius of 0.0079 inches (1/128 inch), making it suited for tight-tolerance groove profiles.
This insert is intended for use in metalworking operations where precision slot milling and parting are required. Compatible primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials, covering ISO material groups P, M, K, S, and H. It is designed for installation in SGSF-series Self Grip cutter bodies and follows the Self Grip insert holding method. Typical users include CNC machinists and toolroom technicians working in production or job-shop environments.
Designed for use with SGSF-series Self Grip cutter bodies. Suitable for machining steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials (ISO groups P, M, K, S, H). Refer to the ISCAR SGSF toolholder documentation to confirm pocket geometry and insert seat compatibility before installation.
Installation should be performed by a qualified CNC machinist or toolroom technician with the machine powered down and locked out per applicable safety procedures. Use the appropriate torx or hex key as specified by the cutter body manufacturer to seat the insert securely in the Self Grip pocket. Inspect the insert seat and clamping surfaces for debris or wear before seating a new insert. Do not exceed the recommended depth of cut or feed rate parameters published in the ISCAR tooling application guides for this insert grade and geometry.
