The ISCAR 6002744 is a double-ended solid carbide cutoff and parting insert in the Do-Grip series, designed for high-performance grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries the IC308 manufacturer grade with a PVD coating for extended tool life in demanding cuts. The insert features a 1.4 mm cutting width (0.0551 inches), a 15-degree right-hand lead angle, a 7-degree relief angle, and a JS chipbreaker geometry. Overall insert length is 15.40 mm (0.6063 inches). These characteristics make it well suited for tight-tolerance parting and cutoff work where chip control and edge stability are critical.
This insert is intended for use in metalworking applications where parting and cutoff operations are performed on superalloys and other challenging workpiece materials. The JS chipbreaker geometry promotes reliable chip evacuation in materials that tend to produce long, stringy chips. The right-hand lead angle suits standard spindle rotation setups on most CNC and manual lathes. It is installed by licensed machinists and tooling technicians in production and job-shop environments. The Do-Grip clamping method provides secure insert retention without screws, reducing changeover time during high-volume runs.
Designed for use with ISCAR Do-Grip series toolholders that accept DGR-style inserts with a 1400 size code and clamp-held retention. Confirm toolholder compatibility against the ISCAR Do-Grip system specifications before ordering.
Insert installation and indexing should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the machine in a full stop, lockout/tagout condition. Use the appropriate Do-Grip clamping tool to seat the insert fully before resuming cutting operations. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping blade for wear or damage at each insert change. Never run a chipped or cracked insert, as insert failure at cutting speeds can cause workpiece damage and personal injury.
