The ISCAR 6002686 is a solid carbide cutoff and parting insert designed for precision grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Manufactured under the GFL3W-8D designation in the Self-Grip series, this single-end insert features a 3.00 mm (0.1181 inch) cutting width and a 0.20 mm (0.0079 inch) corner radius. The IC354 grade substrate is applied with a PVD TiCN coating, optimizing edge wear resistance on stainless steel and carbon steel workpieces. The left-hand lead angle of 8 degrees and a 7-degree relief angle support controlled chip flow during parting cuts. Licensed machinists and CNC programmers specify this insert for high-volume production turning cells.
This insert is suited for parting and grooving applications on stainless steel and steel workpieces in both production and job-shop turning environments. The W chipbreaker geometry promotes chip curl and evacuation in interrupted or continuous parting cuts. The Self-Grip clamping system secures the insert without additional hardware, reducing setup time on compatible toolholders. It is a single-end insert, meaning each unit provides one cutting edge before replacement.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement insert for ISCAR Self-Grip series GFL3W-8D toolholders and compatible clamping blocks accepting insert seat size 3. Refer to the ISCAR Self-Grip toolholder selection guide to confirm holder-to-insert fitment before ordering.
Insert installation and replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician with the machine in a safe, powered-down or E-stop state and all spindle motion confirmed stopped. Use the appropriate ISCAR torx or hex key as specified by the toolholder manufacturer to seat the Self-Grip clamp; do not over-torque the clamp screw. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping surfaces for chips or debris before seating the insert to ensure full and flat contact. Dispose of worn carbide inserts in accordance with local metal-waste regulations.
