The ISCAR 6002657 is a solid carbide cutoff insert designed for grooving and parting-off operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Part of the ISCAR Self-Grip series, it features a 1.6 mm (0.0630 inch) cutting width and a neutral lead angle, making it suitable for straight-plunge cut-off work. The insert is manufactured from solid carbide in grade IC-354 and carries a PVD coating for improved wear resistance and edge retention. It uses a clamp-style holding method and seats in compatible Self-Grip toolholders. Licensed HVAC techs and machinists working in precision turning will find this insert appropriate for high-demand parting applications.
This insert is intended for cut-off and grooving applications in metal turning environments, with primary workpiece material compatibility covering stainless steel and general steel — ISO material codes M and P respectively. The Self-Grip clamping system provides rigid, repeatable seating in production turning setups, including automated and high-volume machining cells. It is commonly installed in light to medium-duty parting operations where a narrow kerf and consistent edge geometry are required. Each package contains one insert; minimum order quantity is 10 units.
Designed for use in ISCAR Self-Grip series toolholders that accept the GFN 1.6 insert style. Primary workpiece materials are stainless steel and steel (ISO material codes M and P). Consult ISCAR toolholder specifications to confirm pocket size and clamping compatibility before installation.
Insert installation and replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before handling inserts or toolholders. Inspect the toolholder pocket for chips or wear before seating the insert; a contaminated pocket can cause improper seating and premature insert failure. Follow the toolholder manufacturer torque and clamping guidance for the Self-Grip clamp mechanism.
