The ISCAR 6002624 is a solid carbide cutoff and grooving insert designed for precision parting and grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Manufactured to the GFN 8IC-354 style specification, this single-end insert features a 0.3142 inch (7.98 mm) cutting width and a 0.0165 inch (0.42 mm) corner radius. The IC354 carbide grade is applied with a PVD coating process, producing a coated finish suited for demanding cutting conditions. A neutral lead angle and neutral hand orientation make this insert compatible with straight-entry grooving and parting applications. Licensed machinists, CNC operators, and toolroom technicians typically select this insert for high-precision material removal work.
This insert is engineered for grooving and parting operations on stainless steel and steel workpieces, corresponding to ISO material codes M and P. It belongs to the ISCAR Self-Grip series, which uses a clamping hold method for secure insert retention during cutting. The IC354 PVD-coated grade is well matched to the work-hardening and abrasion characteristics common in stainless steel turning. Typical applications include OD grooving, full parting, and groove-to-depth operations in production turning environments. The insert conforms to ISO 13399 standards for cutting tool data representation.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement insert for ISCAR Self-Grip series grooving and parting toolholders that accept GFN style, size code 8 inserts. Verify toolholder seat geometry and insert size code before installation.
Insert installation and replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC toolroom technician with the machine powered down and the spindle locked. Use the appropriate ISCAR torx or hex key to seat and clamp the insert per the toolholder manufacturer guidelines. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping surfaces for chips or debris before seating a new insert. Do not exceed the toolholder rated cutting parameters for feed rate or depth of cut.
