The ISCAR 6002602 is a solid carbide cutoff and parting insert designed for precision grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries the GFR insert style with a 1.2 mm (0.0472 inch) cutting width and a JS chipbreaker geometry optimized for chip control in demanding applications. The IC328 grade features a PVD coating over a carbide substrate, making it well suited for cutting superalloys and other difficult-to-machine materials. A 10-degree right-hand lead angle and 7-degree relief angle support clean, accurate parting cuts with reduced tool deflection. This insert seats into compatible Self-Grip toolholders using a clamp-style holding method.
This insert is intended for parting and cutoff operations in production machining environments, including aerospace and general manufacturing shops working with superalloys, stainless steels, and similar high-performance materials. The JS chipbreaker geometry promotes reliable chip evacuation during deep parting passes. It is a single-end insert and is sold individually, though a minimum order quantity of 10 units applies. Machinists and tooling specialists specifying inserts for tight-tolerance parting work will find the IC328 PVD coating appropriate for ISO material groups M, P, and S.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement insert for ISCAR Self-Grip series cutoff and parting toolholders that accept GFR-style inserts with a 1.2 mm cutting width.
Installation and replacement of this insert should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the machine in a safe, powered-down or locked-out state per applicable lockout/tagout procedures. Use the correct torque wrench and clamp screw specified by the toolholder manufacturer to seat the insert securely without over-torquing the clamping system. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping surfaces for debris or wear before seating a new insert. Handle carbide inserts carefully to avoid chipping the cutting edge prior to use.
