The ISCAR 6002591 is a solid carbide cutoff insert designed for precision parting and grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries the GFR3J6D designation and IC354 manufacturer grade, featuring a 3 mm cutting width (0.1181 inches) with a J-style chipbreaker for effective chip control. The PVD coating over the solid carbide substrate provides wear resistance suited to continuous and interrupted cut applications. With a 7-degree relief angle and a 0.25 mm corner radius, this insert maintains edge integrity during parting cuts on demanding workpiece materials. Installation is handled by licensed machinists and CNC operators using the Self-Grip clamping method, which provides secure tool holding without additional fasteners.
This cutoff insert is engineered for use on stainless steel and steel workpieces, aligning with ISO material codes M and P respectively. It is suited to production turning environments where consistent parting and grooving are required. The right-hand lead angle and 6-degree lead angle geometry direct cutting forces appropriately for right-hand tool holders in the Self-Grip series. The IC354 grade is a PVD-coated carbide classified under material grades C5 and C6, making it applicable across a range of medium to hard ferrous materials. This insert is sold individually and is ordered in minimum quantities of 10 units per order.
Designed for use with ISCAR Self-Grip series right-hand tool holders that accept GFR-style inserts with a size code 3 designation. Compatible with ISO 13399-compliant tooling systems.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the turret is in a safe index position before changing inserts. The Self-Grip holding method requires proper seating of the insert into the tool holder pocket before applying cutting loads. Verify insert orientation matches the right-hand designation of the tool holder to avoid improper engagement.
