The ISCAR 6002558 is a solid carbide cutoff and parting insert designed for precision grooving and parting-off operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It belongs to the Self-Grip series and carries insert style designation GFR with a JS chipbreaker geometry. The IC-354 grade features a PVD coating optimized for cutting stainless steel and general steel workpieces. With a 2.00 mm cutting width, a 10-degree right-hand lead angle, and a 7-degree relief angle, this insert delivers controlled chip formation and stable tool engagement during parting cuts. It is a single-end insert held by a clamp-style toolholder.
This insert is intended for parting and cutoff applications on ferrous materials, particularly stainless steel and carbon steel. The JS chipbreaker geometry is suited for interrupted or continuous cuts where chip control is critical. The IC-354 PVD-coated grade is selected for its wear resistance and edge toughness on ISO material groups M and P. It is installed by machinists and CNC tooling technicians in production turning environments where consistent part-off performance and tight width tolerances are required.
Designed for use with ISCAR Self-Grip series clamp-style toolholders accepting GFR-style inserts with a size code 2 designation. Suitable for ISO material groups M (stainless steel) and P (steel) at material grades C5 and C6.
Insert installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician with the machine powered down and the spindle locked. Use the appropriate ISCAR Self-Grip toolholder clamp mechanism to seat the insert fully before torquing the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer specification. Inspect the insert seat and clamp for chips or debris before installation to prevent insert rocking. Replace the insert at the first sign of edge wear or chipping to avoid workpiece damage and dimensional drift.
