The ISCAR 6002557 is a single-end carbide cutoff and parting insert designed for grooving and parting-off operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It features a 2 mm cutting width, a right-hand lead angle of 4 degrees, a relief angle of 7 degrees, and a minimal corner radius of 0.02 mm for precise parting cuts. The insert is manufactured from solid carbide in the IC-354 manufacturer grade, applied with a PVD coating for extended tool life when cutting stainless steel and general steel workpieces. It belongs to the ISCAR Self-Grip series and uses a clamp-style holding method. The JS chipbreaker geometry is designed to manage chip control in demanding parting applications.
This insert is suited for parting and cutoff work on stainless steel and steel stock, covering ISO material codes M and P. It is appropriate for use in production turning environments where tight groove widths and clean parting faces are required. The Self-Grip series toolholder system provides rigid insert seating, making this insert a practical choice for high-volume machining cells and job shop turning departments. A licensed machinist or CNC programmer familiar with ISCAR Self-Grip tooling systems would typically specify and install this insert.
Designed for use with ISCAR Self-Grip series clamping toolholders that accept GFR-style inserts with a size code 2 designation. Primary workpiece materials are stainless steel (ISO code M) and steel (ISO code P), with material grades C5 and C6.
Insert replacement should be performed with the machine in a locked-out, de-energized state per applicable lockout/tagout procedures. Use the appropriate ISCAR clamping key or torx wrench specified for the Self-Grip toolholder to seat the insert fully against the pocket. Inspect the toolholder pocket for chips or debris before installing a new insert, as contamination can cause improper seating and insert breakage. Handle carbide inserts with care to avoid chipping the cutting edge prior to use.
