The ISCAR 6002516 is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for precision grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Carrying the IC354 manufacturer grade with a PVD-applied TiCN coating, this insert delivers wear resistance and surface integrity suited to demanding cutting cycles. The neutral hand orientation and Self-Grip holding method allow secure seating in compatible grooving toolholders. At a cutting width of 0.2362 inches (6.00 mm) and a corner radius of 0.0098 inches (0.25 mm), it is built for consistent groove geometry in production environments. Machinists and CNC operators working in job shops or manufacturing facilities rely on this insert for repeatable results on stainless steel and steel workpieces.
This insert is intended for grooving and cutoff applications on stainless steel and steel workpieces, corresponding to ISO material codes M and P. The 7-degree positive rake angle reduces cutting forces and supports clean chip evacuation, making it well suited for medium to finishing cuts. It is appropriate for both general production turning and close-tolerance groove work where surface finish and dimensional consistency are critical. The GFF6 insert style belongs to the ISCAR Self-Grip series, which is engineered for rigid clamping without additional locking screws.
Designed for use in ISCAR Self-Grip series grooving toolholders and blade systems that accept the GFF6 insert style and size code 6. Optimized for primary workpiece materials stainless steel (ISO code M) and steel (ISO code P). Conforms to ISO 13399 tooling data standards.
Installation should be performed by a qualified CNC machinist or tooling technician with the machine fully stopped and locked out before insert exchange. Seat the insert firmly into the Self-Grip pocket by hand, confirming full contact against the pocket walls before beginning a cut. Inspect the pocket bore and seating surfaces for chips or damage before each insert change to avoid misalignment. Follow the toolholder manufacturer guidelines for minimum clamping depth and maximum cutting parameters.
