The ISCAR 6002444 is a solid carbide cutoff insert designed for parting and grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Manufactured in the GFR Self-Grip series, it features a 3.00 mm (0.1181 inch) cutting width, an 8-degree right-hand lead angle, and a 7-degree relief angle. The insert is coated via PVD with IC354 grade, a wear-resistant coating optimized for cutting stainless steel and general steel. A 0.20 mm corner radius reduces edge chipping and extends tool life on interrupted cuts. This insert is intended for installation by machinists and CNC toolroom technicians performing cut-off and deep grooving work.
The 6002444 is suited for parting operations in production turning environments handling stainless steel (ISO material code M) and steel (ISO material code P). The Self-Grip clamping method secures the insert mechanically in a compatible ISCAR GFR-series holder without additional fasteners, making it appropriate for high-cycle production runs and Swiss-style turning applications where quick insert changes are required. The single-ended geometry and right-hand orientation should be confirmed against the specific toolholder designation before ordering.
Designed for use in ISCAR GFR-series Self-Grip cutoff and grooving toolholders. Confirm holder designation accepts the GFR3 insert style and right-hand orientation before installation. Compatible with workpiece material grades C5 and C6.
Installation and insert changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine powered off and spindle locked. Seat the insert fully into the Self-Grip holder pocket and verify secure clamping before running. Follow the toolholder manufacturer's torque and setup instructions where applicable. Inspect the insert seating pocket for chips or debris before each insert change to prevent insert rocking and premature failure.
