The ISCAR 6000812 is a single-end carbide cutoff insert designed for parting and grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It belongs to ISCAR's Self-Grip series and features a GTN-2 insert style with a 2.2 mm (0.0866 inch) cutting width and a neutral lead angle. The insert is manufactured from IC20 uncoated carbide, rated for material grades C2 and C3, making it suitable for machining cast iron and non-ferrous materials. A 7-degree relief angle and a 0.16 mm corner radius contribute to clean, consistent cutoff geometry. Installation is handled via a clamp-style holding method compatible with Self-Grip toolholders.
This insert is used in production turning environments where precise parting and cutoff are required. The neutral hand orientation allows use in standard right-hand setups without angular offset. The GTN size code 2 designation aligns it with the corresponding seat size 2 toolholder pockets. It is appropriate for job shop and production floor applications where carbide cutoff inserts are consumed in volume, with a minimum order quantity of 10 pieces per transaction.
Designed for use with ISCAR Self-Grip series cutoff and grooving toolholders accepting insert seat size 2. Consult the ISCAR Self-Grip toolholder catalog to confirm the correct body model for your machine turret and bar diameter.
Cutoff inserts of this type are seated and clamped by a machinist or toolroom technician; confirm the machine spindle is fully stopped and the turret is indexed away from the work zone before changing inserts. Use the appropriate ISCAR Self-Grip clamping key or wrench to secure the insert without overtightening. Inspect the insert seat for chips or debris before seating a new insert to ensure accurate positioning. Follow the toolholder manufacturer's recommended clamping procedure to avoid micro-fractures in the carbide substrate.
