The ISCAR 6000455 is a solid carbide cutoff insert designed for parting and grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. This single-end insert features a 3 mm cutting width (0.1181 inches), a 15-degree right-hand lead angle, and a 7-degree relief angle. The insert seats in a Self-Grip style clamping system, which uses mechanical clamp retention for secure, repeatable positioning under interrupted cuts and high feed rates. The IC20 grade is an uncoated carbide formulation suited for a broad range of workpiece materials. Machinists and CNC operators install this insert in compatible ISCAR Self-Grip toolholders for production turning applications.
This insert is applied in cut-off and parting operations on turning machines in both job shop and production environments. The right-hand lead angle geometry promotes chip flow away from the finished bore or part face during separation cuts. Compatible workpiece materials include cast iron, non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, and exotic alloys, consistent with material codes H, K, M, N, and S per ISO classification. The 0.20 mm corner radius (0.0079 inches) helps control burr formation at the part separation point. This insert is not rated for multi-use regrinding; it is a single-use, indexable tool.
Designed for use with ISCAR Self-Grip series toolholders that accept GFR-style cutoff inserts. Compatible with workpiece material groups H, K, M, N, and S per ISO classification. Conforms to ISO 13399 tooling data standards. Material grades C2 and C3 apply.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Use the appropriate torque wrench and ISCAR-specified clamping hardware to seat the insert; do not overtighten the clamp screw. Verify insert orientation and lead angle direction match the programmed toolpath before resuming cuts.
