The ISCAR 6000238 is a solid carbide cutoff and grooving insert designed for precision parting and grooving operations on a wide range of workpiece materials. Designated insert style GFN with a size code of 4, this single-end insert carries manufacturer grade IC20 and features an uncoated solid carbide construction. The cutting width measures 4.05 mm (0.1594 inches), with a neutral lead angle, a 7-degree relief angle, and a corner radius of 0.24 mm (0.0094 inches). The chipbreaker designation is A. Installation and tool changes are handled by a clamp-style holding method within the Self-Grip series tooling system. This insert is suited for machinists and toolroom technicians running lathes and turning centers in production or job-shop environments.
The ISCAR 6000238 is classified for grooving and parting applications across universal primary workpiece material groups, including ISO material codes H, K, M, N, and S. This covers a broad spectrum of materials from cast iron and non-ferrous alloys to steel and heat-resistant superalloys. The Self-Grip series clamping system provides secure insert retention during cutoff passes, making this insert appropriate for both light finishing passes and moderate-stock parting operations on manual or CNC turning equipment. It is compatible with the GFN 4A catalog designation and conforms to ISO 13399 tooling data standards.
Designed for use with ISCAR Self-Grip series clamping toolholders accepting GFN style inserts at insert seat size 4. Compatible with workpiece material groups H, K, M, N, and S per ISO material classification. Catalog reference GFN 4A; material grades C2 and C3.
Insert installation and indexing should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine powered down and the spindle fully stopped. Use the appropriate ISCAR Self-Grip clamping tool or torx key as specified for the mating toolholder to seat and secure the insert. Inspect the insert seat for chips or debris before installation, as contamination in the pocket can affect insert seating and cutting geometry. Handle carbide inserts with care to avoid chipping the cutting edge prior to use.
