The ISCAR 6000153 is a solid carbide cutoff and parting insert designed for precision grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Manufactured to ISO 13399 standards, this uncoated insert carries the IC20 grade designation and features a 3mm (0.1181 inches) cutting width with a left-hand lead angle of 15 degrees. The 0.20mm corner radius and 7-degree relief angle support clean, controlled chip separation across a broad range of workpiece materials. It fits the ISCAR Self-Grip clamping system and is sold individually, with a minimum order of 10 units.
This insert is suited for parting and grooving applications in both production and job-shop turning environments. Its universal primary workpiece material rating covers ISO material groups H, K, M, N, and S, making it applicable across steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous alloys, and high-temperature alloys. The IC20 uncoated carbide grade is commonly selected for applications where a sharp, uncoated edge is preferred, such as when machining non-ferrous metals or finishing cuts where coating buildup would affect dimensional accuracy.
Designed for use with ISCAR Self-Grip series parting and grooving toolholders that accept the GFL size 3 insert seat. Compatible across ISO workpiece material groups H, K, M, N, and S.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the machine in a locked-out, zero-energy state before any insert change. Seat the insert fully into the Self-Grip clamp pocket and verify secure clamping before resuming cutting operations. Inspect the insert seat for chips or debris that could affect seating geometry. Follow the toolholder manufacturer torque and setup specifications for the Self-Grip system.
