The ISCAR 6000021 is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for precision external grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Manufactured to the GFF-3N style with an IC656 grade and CVD-applied TiC coating, this insert delivers wear resistance and thermal stability during interrupted and continuous cuts. The cutting width measures 0.1181 inches (3.00 mm) with a corner radius of 0.0118 inches (0.30 mm). It features a positive rake angle of 7 degrees and a neutral hand orientation. The Self-Grip holding method locks the insert securely into compatible ISCAR Self-Grip toolholders, reducing vibration and improving repeatability. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working in production turning environments install this insert.
This insert is engineered for grooving and cutoff applications on stainless steel and carbon steel workpieces, corresponding to ISO material codes M and P. It is suited for medium to high cutting speed operations where a TiC CVD coating provides the edge retention needed to maintain dimensional accuracy across production runs. The 0.1181-inch cutting width targets standard groove profiles in aerospace, automotive, and general manufacturing applications. The GFF style geometry and positive rake promote clean chip flow and reduce cutting forces on difficult-to-machine stainless grades.
Designed for use with ISCAR Self-Grip series toolholders accepting GFF-3 style inserts. Compatible with ISO material grade C5 and C6 carbide classifications targeting stainless steel (ISO M) and steel (ISO P) workpiece materials.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Seat the insert fully into the Self-Grip toolholder pocket and verify positive engagement before resuming cutting operations. Do not exceed the toolholder manufacturer's recommended depth-of-cut or feed rate limits for the GFF-3 insert size.
