The ISCAR 5995875 is a laydown threading insert designed for external UN thread cutting at 13 threads per inch (TPI). Built from solid carbide and finished with a PVD-applied TiAlN coating, this insert delivers consistent thread form and wear resistance across a wide range of workpiece materials. The insert style is 16ER with a 3/8 inch (0.375 inch decimal) inscribed circle and a thickness of 0.143 inches. The IC908 grade is engineered for demanding threading operations where edge stability and surface finish consistency are critical. Licensed machinists and CNC lathe operators are the primary installers of this tooling component.
This insert is suited for external threading operations on CNC lathes and manual turning centers in both job shop and production environments. The right-hand cutting geometry targets standard UN thread profiles at 13 TPI. The universal primary workpiece material designation covers a broad spectrum of materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, nonferrous metals, and high-temperature alloys, aligning with ISO material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S. It is a standard replacement insert within the ISCARTHREAD series and is sold individually with a minimum order quantity of 5 units.
Designed as a replacement threading insert within the ISCARTHREAD series, compatible with laydown-style toolholders accepting the 16ER insert style with a 3/8 inch inscribed circle.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. The machine spindle must be fully stopped and the toolholder must be secured before seating or replacing the insert. Use the appropriate torx or clamp screw driver to the toolholder manufacturer's recommended procedure to seat the insert without overtightening. Verify thread pitch and tool offset data in the machine controller before resuming cutting operations.
