The ISCAR 5993188 is a solid carbide laydown threading insert designed for internal partial-profile 60-degree thread cutting. Manufactured in the IC908 grade with a PVD-applied TiAlN coating, this insert delivers wear resistance and thermal stability across a wide range of workpiece materials. It carries a 3/8 inch inscribed circle, a thickness of 0.143 inches, and a corner radius of 0.0047 inches. The right-hand cutting geometry and 14-8 TPI range make it suitable for producing unified and metric-equivalent internal threads in production and maintenance machining environments. It is sold individually but must be ordered in multiples of 5.
This insert is intended for use on CNC lathes and manual turning centers performing internal threading operations. The IC908 grade with PVD TiAlN coating is rated for universal workpiece materials, covering steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous alloys, and heat-resistant superalloys. It fits the ISCARTHREAD series toolholders that accept the 16IR insert style. Machinists and toolroom technicians working on threaded bore applications in both production shops and job shops will find this insert applicable across a broad range of threading tasks.
Designed for use with ISCARTHREAD series toolholders accepting the 16IR insert style. Suitable for universal workpiece materials coded H, K, M, N, P, and S per ISO material classification.
This insert should be seated and clamped by a qualified machinist following the toolholder manufacturer's torque and clamping specifications for the 16IR pocket. Confirm the insert is fully seated before initiating any cutting pass. Replace the insert at the first sign of edge chipping, built-up edge, or surface finish degradation to prevent thread damage on the workpiece. Always reference the applicable threading program parameters and verify TPI or pitch settings before cutting.
