The ISCAR 5920012 is a solid carbide laydown threading insert designed for internal thread cutting operations. It carries the 16IRM insert style with an AG60 geometry, producing a partial profile 60-degree thread form on the workpiece. The IC-250 grade features a PVD-applied TiN coating over solid carbide, combining wear resistance with edge toughness. This insert handles a thread range of 48 to 8 TPI and a pitch range of 0.50 to 3.00 mm, making it suitable for a wide span of coarse and fine internal thread work. It is installed by machinists and CNC lathe operators in production and job-shop environments.
This insert is suited for right-hand internal threading on cast iron, stainless steel, and steel workpieces, covering material grades P, M, and K per ISO classification. The AG60 partial profile geometry allows a single insert to cut multiple thread pitches within the rated TPI range without requiring a full-form insert change for each pitch. Typical applications include threading bores on turned components, fittings, and fastener blanks in both low-volume and high-volume turning operations. The ISCARTHREAD series is engineered for use in compatible ISCAR internal threading toolholders.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard production insert for ISCAR internal threading toolholders accepting the 16IR laydown insert size. Confirm toolholder seat geometry and clamping style before installation.
This insert is installed by qualified machinists or CNC lathe technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the toolholder is secured before seating or replacing the insert. Use the correct torque wrench or clamping key specified for the toolholder to avoid seat damage or insert fracture. Do not use damaged or chipped inserts, as insert failure during internal threading can cause bore damage and workpiece loss.
