The ISCAR 5920010 is a laydown threading insert designed for external thread cutting on CNC lathes and turning centers. This solid carbide, uncoated (bright finish) insert uses the 16ER style and IC-50M grade carbide to deliver consistent performance on cast iron, stainless steel, and carbon steel workpieces. It cuts a partial profile 60-degree thread form and covers a threads-per-inch range of 48 to 8 TPI, equivalent to a 0.50 to 3.00 mm pitch range. The inscribed circle measures 3/8 inch (9.53 mm) and the insert thickness is 0.143 inches. The M-style chipbreaker geometry assists with chip control during threading operations on challenging materials.
This insert is suited for right-hand external threading applications in job shop, production machining, and maintenance repair environments. Typical use cases include threading fastener stock, pipe fittings, and shaft components on manual or CNC lathes. The 60-degree partial profile geometry allows a single insert to cover a range of thread pitches within its TPI window, reducing the need for dedicated inserts at every pitch. Primary workpiece materials include cast iron, stainless steel, and steel. It is part of the ISCARTHREAD series and conforms to ISO 13399 tooling data standards.
Designed for use in 16ER-style laydown threading toolholders that accept a 3/8 inch inscribed circle insert. Suitable for external 60-degree partial profile threading across the 48 to 8 TPI range on compatible CNC and manual lathe tooling systems.
This insert is installed and replaced by a machinist or CNC tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine before seating or removing inserts. Use the correct torx or clamping screw specified by the toolholder manufacturer to secure the insert at the recommended clamping torque listed in the toolholder documentation. Inspect the insert seat for chips or debris before installation to ensure proper seating and thread accuracy.
