The ISCAR 5903406 is a solid carbide laydown threading insert designed for internal UN thread cutting at 18 threads per inch (TPI). Carrying the IC808 manufacturer grade and applied with a PVD TiAlN coating, this insert is engineered for demanding threading operations across a wide range of workpiece materials. The right-hand configuration and 16IRM insert style position it for standard internal threading applications in CNC lathes and turning centers. With a 3/8 inch inscribed circle and a 0.143 inch thickness, the insert fits toolholders dimensioned to the 16-series standard. The M chipbreaker geometry supports consistent chip control during threading passes.
This insert is suited for internal UN thread production in machining environments where surface finish, tool life, and repeatability are priorities. The IC808 grade with PVD coating performs across the H, K, M, N, P, and S workpiece material codes, covering steels, stainless steels, cast irons, non-ferrous metals, and high-temperature alloys. Machinists and CNC operators in production shops, job shops, and maintenance machining operations are the typical end users. The insert complies with ISO 13399 standards for cutting tool data representation.
Designed as a laydown threading insert for 16IRM-style internal threading toolholders accepting a 3/8 inch inscribed circle insert. Verify toolholder seat geometry and clamping style before installation. No specific compatible model numbers were provided in the product data.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or removing inserts. Use the correct torque wrench and manufacturer-specified fastener to secure the insert in the toolholder pocket — over-torquing can crack the carbide seat. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for wear or debris before each insert change.
