The ISCAR 5902818 is a laydown threading insert designed for internal UN thread cutting at 14 threads per inch (TPI). Built from solid carbide and coated with TiAlN via a PVD process, this insert is engineered for consistent thread form and extended tool life in demanding cutting applications. It carries the IC908 manufacturer grade and features a right-hand cutting orientation. The inscribed circle measures 3/8 inch (0.375 inches), and the insert thickness is 0.143 inches. The B chipbreaker geometry supports controlled chip flow during threading operations. Licensed machinists and CNC tooling technicians install and index these inserts on compatible laydown threading toolholders.
This insert is suited for internal UN thread production across a broad range of workpiece materials, including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous alloys, high-temperature alloys, and other materials consistent with the universal primary workpiece material classification. Typical applications include threading bores in components machined on CNC lathes and turning centers in job shop, production machining, and industrial manufacturing environments. The insert is sold individually but must be ordered in multiples of 5 per the minimum order quantity requirement.
Designed for use in laydown threading toolholders accepting the 16IR insert style with a 3/8 inch inscribed circle. Compatible with tooling systems within the ISCARTHREAD series. Verify holder and clamp compatibility with the 16IRB insert style before installation.
Installation and indexing of carbide threading inserts should be performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the manufacturer-specified torque driver or clamp screw tool to seat the insert correctly — do not overtighten by hand or with non-specified tools. Confirm insert seating, orientation, and thread form with a trial pass and gauging before running full production.
