The ISCAR 5902785 is a laydown threading insert designed for external partial profile 60-degree thread forms. Manufactured from solid carbide with a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process, this insert carries the IC908 manufacturer grade and delivers consistent performance across a broad range of workpiece materials. It covers a thread pitch range of 48 to 8 TPI (0.50 to 3.00 mm pitch) and features a 3/8 inch (0.3750 inch decimal) inscribed circle with a thickness of 0.143 inches. The right-hand orientation and B-series chipbreaker geometry make it suited for productive external threading operations on CNC lathes and turning centers.
This insert is intended for external threading applications on a wide variety of metallic workpiece materials, including steels, stainless steels, cast irons, non-ferrous alloys, and high-temperature alloys, as indicated by the universal primary workpiece material classification (H, K, M, N, P, S material codes). It fits standard 16ERB-style toolholders and is commonly used in precision machining environments where consistent thread form accuracy and insert-to-insert repeatability are required. Typical installers include CNC machinists and toolroom operators working with external threading cycles.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement for 16ERB-style laydown threading insert seats. Compatible toolholders must accept a 16ERB insert with a 3/8 inch inscribed circle and 0.143 inch thickness. No specific toolholder model numbers were provided in the product data.
Installation should be performed by a qualified CNC machinist or toolroom technician familiar with indexable insert tooling. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before seating or replacing the insert. Use the appropriate torx or clamp screw driver specified by the toolholder manufacturer to achieve proper clamping — do not overtighten by feel alone. Verify insert seating and orientation before resuming any threading cycle.
