The ISCAR 5902572 is a laydown threading insert designed for internal UN thread cutting at 28 threads per inch (TPI). Built from solid carbide with a TiAlN PVD coating, this insert delivers wear resistance and thermal stability across a broad range of workpiece materials. It carries the IC908 manufacturer grade and features a right-hand cutting orientation. The 1/4 inch (0.2500 inches) inscribed circle and 0.1260 inch thickness conform to the 11IR insert style geometry. Installation and use are typical for CNC lathe threading operations performed by machinists and toolroom technicians working to UN thread standards.
This insert is suited for internal threading operations on materials classified under the H, K, M, N, P, and S workpiece material codes, making it effective on a wide cross-section of metals including steels, stainless alloys, cast irons, non-ferrous materials, and high-temperature alloys. It is used in production and job-shop CNC turning environments where consistent 28 TPI UN thread profiles are required on through-holes and blind bores. The insert follows ISO 13399 tooling data standards, supporting compatibility with digital tool management and presetter systems.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement insert for ISCARTHREAD series toolholders accepting 11IR style laydown threading inserts for internal UN thread applications.
Seating and clamping of threading inserts should be performed with the machine powered down and the spindle locked. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to the toolholder manufacturer's specified clamping method and ensure the insert seats fully and evenly in the pocket before resuming operation. Inspect the insert pocket for chips or debris before each insert change, as contamination can cause improper seating and premature edge failure. Threading insert replacement is a standard machinist task performed per shop safety and CNC operating procedures.
