The ISCAR 5902506 is a laydown-style indexable threading insert designed for cutting internal UN threads at 24 threads per inch. Built from solid carbide in the IC908 grade, this insert uses a PVD-applied TiN/TiAlN coating over a submicron carbide substrate to deliver hardness and edge toughness across a wide range of workpiece materials. The 11IR geometry is sized for right-hand internal threading operations. The inscribed circle measures 0.2500 inches (6.35 mm) and the insert thickness is 0.1260 inches. This insert is part of the ISCARTHREAD series and is installed by CNC machinists and toolroom technicians running threading cycles on lathes and turning centers.
This insert is suited for internal UN thread turning on a broad range of materials, including steel, stainless, cast iron, non-ferrous, and heat-resistant alloys, as reflected in its universal primary workpiece material designation covering ISO material groups H, K, M, N, P, and S. Typical applications include threading bores and tapped features on precision components in aerospace, automotive, and general machining environments. The chipbreaker style is B, appropriate for controlled chip formation during threading passes on turning equipment.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement insert for standard 11IR-style internal threading toolholders within the ISCARTHREAD series. Specific toolholder compatibility should be confirmed against ISCAR toolholder documentation for the 11IR insert seat specification.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians. Power down and lock out the turning center or lathe before seating or indexing the insert. Use the appropriate torx or clamping screw specified for the toolholder to secure the insert — do not overtighten with impact tools. Confirm insert orientation and thread hand before running the threading cycle.
