The ISCAR 5902392 is a laydown threading insert designed for cutting internal Acme threads on a lathe or CNC turning center. It carries the IC908 grade, a PVD-coated solid carbide grade with a TiAlN finish engineered for tough, consistent thread profiles across a wide range of workpiece materials. The insert runs at 4 threads per inch (TPI) and fits toolholders accepting a 1/2-inch (0.500 inch) inscribed circle with a 0.188-inch thickness. Machinist and toolroom technicians use this insert where precision Acme thread forms are required on internal bores.
This insert is suited to both production and job-shop environments where internal Acme threading operations are performed on materials including steels, stainless steels, cast iron, non-ferrous alloys, high-temperature alloys, and hardened workpieces, as reflected by the universal primary workpiece material designation. The right-hand cut orientation and laydown-style geometry make it compatible with standard ISCARTHREAD-series internal threading toolholders. It is packaged individually but must be ordered in multiples of 5 per ISCAR minimum order policy.
Designed for use with ISCARTHREAD-series internal threading toolholders that accept a 22IR-style laydown insert with a 1/2-inch inscribed circle. Confirm toolholder seat geometry and insert size code 22IR before installation.
Insert seating and clamping should be performed by a qualified machinist following the toolholder manufacturer's torque and clamping specifications. Power down and lock out the spindle completely before indexing or replacing the insert. Inspect the toolholder pocket and clamping screw for wear or debris before seating a new insert, as a contaminated pocket will affect thread accuracy. Handle solid carbide inserts carefully to avoid chipping the cutting edge prior to use.
