The ISCAR 5902294 is a laydown-style external threading insert engineered for precision UN thread profiles at 14 threads per inch (TPI). Built from solid carbide with an IC908 manufacturer grade and a PVD-applied TiAlN coating, this insert delivers consistent thread form and extended tool life on a wide range of workpiece materials. It carries a right-hand cutting orientation and fits the 16ER insert style with a 3/8 inch (0.375 inch decimal) inscribed circle and a thickness of 0.143 inches. The IC908 grade is suited for interrupted cuts and demanding threading operations where edge stability is critical. Licensed machinists and CNC toolroom technicians are the primary installers.
This insert is designed for external UN threading applications on CNC lathes and turning centers. With a right-hand cutting configuration, it suits standard right-hand thread production on parts conforming to UN thread standards. The M chipbreaker geometry and universal primary workpiece material classification make it adaptable across steel, stainless, cast iron, aluminum, non-ferrous alloys, and high-temperature alloys, covering material grade codes C1, C2, C6, and C7 as well as workpiece codes H, K, M, N, P, and S. This insert is part of the ISCARTHREAD series and conforms to ISO 13399 tool identification standards.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard tooling insert for 16ER-series external threading toolholders accepting a 3/8 inch inscribed circle laydown insert with UN thread form geometry.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC toolroom technicians. Power down or place the machine in an e-stop state before changing inserts, and engage the spindle lock before seating or removing the insert. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key at the manufacturer-recommended seating method to avoid cracking the carbide substrate. Verify thread pitch and insert orientation against the toolholder specification sheet before resuming a threading cycle.
