The ISCAR 5902234 is a solid carbide laydown threading insert designed for cutting internal Acme threads on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries a TiAlN PVD coating applied through physical vapor deposition, which extends cutting life across a broad range of workpiece materials. The insert is configured for right-hand internal thread cutting at 6 threads per inch (TPI) to the Acme thread standard. It features a 1/2 inch inscribed circle and a thickness of 0.188 inches. The IC908 manufacturer grade is suited for medium to high-speed threading operations where tool wear resistance is critical. Machinists and tool-and-die technicians select this insert for precision lead-screw and power-transmission thread profiles.
This insert is intended for internal Acme thread applications in production and job-shop turning environments. Acme threads appear frequently in lead screws, linear actuators, vises, and other power-transmission components. The IC908 grade with TiAlN coating handles a universal range of workpiece materials, including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous alloys, and high-temperature alloys, making it a versatile choice when threading varied material lots. It is sold individually per package with a minimum order quantity of 5 units, consistent with standard indexable insert purchasing practice.
Designed for use in 22IR-style internal threading toolholders within the ISCARTHREAD series that accept the 22IR insert geometry. Confirm toolholder seat dimensions and clamping style before installation.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing the insert. Seat the insert fully against the pocket locating surfaces and torque the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer specification. Inspect the insert seat and shim for debris or wear before each installation to avoid seating errors that can affect thread accuracy.
