The ISCAR 5902232 is a laydown-style threading insert engineered for cutting external Acme threads at 6 threads per inch. Built from submicron solid carbide with a PVD-applied TiN/TiAlN coating and ISCAR IC908 grade, this insert delivers consistent thread form and edge life across a broad range of workpiece materials. The inscribed circle measures 0.5000 inches (12.70 mm) and the insert thickness is 0.188 inches. It is sized under the 22ER style designation and is designed for right-hand cutting operations. Machinists and CNC lathe operators working in production or job-shop environments rely on inserts like this for repeatable Acme thread profiles on lead screws, linear actuators, and power transmission components.
This insert is suited for external Acme thread turning on CNC lathes and manual engine lathes equipped with compatible 22ER toolholders. The IC908 grade with PVD coating makes it appropriate for universal workpiece material categories, including steel, stainless, cast iron, non-ferrous, and high-temperature alloys. Typical applications include machining lead screws, jack screws, and feed screw components where the Acme thread form is specified. Minimum order quantity is 5 inserts; individual package quantity is 1.
Designed for use with ISCARTHREAD series 22ER-style external threading toolholders. Suitable for universal primary workpiece material categories coded H, K, M, N, P, and S per ISO grade classification.
Insert seating and clamping should be performed with the machine spindle fully stopped and the machine locked out per shop lockout/tagout procedures. Verify the toolholder pocket and clamping screw are clean and free of chips before seating the insert. Use the toolholder manufacturer's specified clamping torque driver — do not overtighten by hand. Confirm thread pitch and hand orientation against the part print before starting the threading cycle.
