The ISCAR 5902165 is a laydown-style indexable threading insert designed for cutting internal UN threads. Built from solid submicron carbide and coated with a TiN/TiAlN finish via PVD process, this insert operates in the IC908 manufacturer grade — a wear-resistant grade suited for a broad range of workpiece materials. The insert follows the 11IR style designation, indicating a right-hand internal threading geometry. It has an inscribed circle of 0.250 inches (6.35 mm), a thickness of 0.126 inches, and a corner radius of 0.002 inches (0.05 mm). It is part of the ISCARTHREAD series and conforms to ISO 13399 standards.
This insert is intended for internal UN thread cutting at 20 threads per inch. It is used in CNC turning centers and manual lathes wherever right-hand internal UN threads are required. The IC908 grade and PVD TiN/TiAlN coating make it suitable for universal workpiece material applications, covering ISO material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S — spanning steels, stainless steels, cast irons, non-ferrous metals, high-temperature alloys, and hardened materials. It is installed in a compatible ISCARTHREAD 11IR toolholder by machinists and CNC operators in production and job-shop environments.
Designed for use in ISCARTHREAD series toolholders that accept 11IR-style laydown threading inserts. Specific toolholder compatibility should be verified against ISCAR toolholder documentation for the 11IR insert style.
Insert installation and indexing should be performed with the machine powered down and the spindle locked. Use the correct torque wrench and ISCAR-specified clamping screw when seating the insert to avoid insert rocking or microchipping of the cutting edge. Verify thread pitch and insert style designation against the toolholder specification before cutting. Machinists should confirm proper coolant delivery to the cutting zone when working with high-temperature alloys in the S material group.
