The ISCAR 5902121 is a laydown threading insert designed for internal partial profile 60-degree thread forms. Manufactured from solid carbide with a TiAlN PVD coating applied under the IC908 grade designation, this insert delivers wear resistance and thermal stability during threading operations. It covers a thread range of 48 to 8 TPI and a pitch range of 0.50 to 3.00 mm, making it suitable for cutting a wide range of standard thread pitches in a single insert style. The left-hand orientation suits setups requiring reverse-hand threading. Machinists and CNC operators in precision machining environments install this insert in compatible laydown-style threading toolholders.
This insert is intended for internal threading applications on lathes and turning centers. The IC908 PVD-coated solid carbide grade performs across universal workpiece materials, including steel, stainless, cast iron, non-ferrous alloys, and high-temperature alloys, as designated by ISO material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S. The 16IL insert style fits into corresponding 16IL-series toolholders. It is suited to both production and maintenance threading tasks in job shop and production machining environments.
Designed for use in 16IL-series laydown threading toolholders compatible with the ISCARTHREAD series. Refer to ISCAR toolholder documentation to confirm pocket geometry and clamping compatibility before installation.
Threading inserts of this type are installed and serviced by machinists on CNC lathes or manual turning equipment. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Use the correct torx or hex key to the toolholder manufacturer's specified seating procedure to avoid rocking or improper clamping. Inspect the insert pocket for debris or wear before seating a new insert, as a damaged pocket will affect thread accuracy and insert life.
