The ISCAR 5902119 is a laydown-style solid carbide threading insert designed for external thread-turning operations. It carries the IC908 manufacturer grade with a PVD-applied TiAlN coating, which provides elevated wear resistance and heat tolerance during interrupted or continuous threading cuts. This insert covers a partial profile 60-degree thread form on a left-hand cutting orientation, supporting a threads-per-inch range of 8 to 48 TPI and a metric pitch range of 0.50 to 3.00 mm. The 3/8-inch (9.53 mm) inscribed circle and 0.143-inch insert thickness conform to the 16EL insert style geometry. A licensed machinist or CNC turning specialist installs this insert into a compatible left-hand external threading toolholder.
This insert is suited for universal workpiece material applications, covering material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S under ISO 13399 classification. That range spans steels, stainless steels, cast irons, non-ferrous alloys, high-temperature alloys, and hardened materials. It is appropriate for both production threading on CNC lathes and manual engine lathes where a 60-degree partial-profile form tool is required. The IC908 grade with TiAlN finish performs reliably across moderate to aggressive cutting conditions in external threading passes.

Insert installation and indexing should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine spindle fully stopped and locked out per applicable safety procedures. Use a calibrated torque wrench and the toolholder manufacturer's recommended clamping screw to seat the insert; do not overtighten. Confirm insert orientation matches the left-hand designation of both the insert and the toolholder before the first threading pass. Inspect the insert seat and clamping pocket for chips or debris before seating a new insert edge.
