The ISCAR 5902116 is a solid carbide laydown threading insert designed for cutting external American Buttress threads at 12 threads per inch (TPI). Carrying the IC908 manufacturer grade with a PVD-applied TiAlN coating, this insert is built for demanding threading operations across a wide range of workpiece materials. The 16ER insert style features a 3/8-inch (0.3750 inches) inscribed circle and a thickness of 0.1430 inches. The right-hand cutting geometry is suited to conventional external threading setups on CNC lathes and turning centers. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working in metal fabrication, energy, and general manufacturing will find this insert at home in high-production threading applications.
This insert is part of the ISCARTHREAD series and is intended for external threading of American Buttress profiles, a thread form commonly used in oil-country tubular goods, heavy mechanical assemblies, and applications requiring high axial load capacity. The IC908 grade combined with PVD TiAlN coating supports use across universal workpiece materials, including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, nonferrous metals, and high-temperature alloys, as indicated by material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S. It is packaged individually and sold in a minimum order quantity of 5 pieces.
Designed for use with ISCARTHREAD series toolholders accepting the 16ER insert style. Confirm holder designation and seating geometry before installation. No additional specific compatible model numbers were provided in the product data.
Threading inserts should be seated and torqued using the appropriate insert screw and key per the toolholder manufacturer's specifications. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping surfaces for chips or debris before seating a new insert. Handling carbide inserts with bare hands is not recommended as edge damage can occur.
