The ISCAR 5902029 is a solid carbide laydown threading insert designed for internal API Round thread cutting applications. Manufactured to the IC908 grade with a PVD-applied TiAlN coating, this insert delivers consistent thread form on a wide range of workpiece materials. It features a 10 threads per inch (TPI) pitch, a 3/8 inch (0.375 inch decimal) inscribed circle, and a 0.143 inch thickness. The right-hand cutting geometry suits standard internal threading operations in oil-country and general industrial environments. Licensed machinists and CNC turning specialists are the primary installers of this insert type.
This insert is suited for internal API Round thread profiles as defined by API standards, used in oil-country tubular goods, couplings, and pipe connections. The IC908 grade combined with PVD coating supports interrupted cuts and demanding threading passes on steel, cast iron, stainless, non-ferrous, and high-temperature alloys. The universal primary workpiece material classification makes it applicable across a broad range of production turning setups where API Round internal threading is required.
Designed for use in ISCARTHREAD series toolholders that accept the 16IR insert style with a 3/8 inch inscribed circle. Compatible workpiece material groups include H, K, M, N, P, and S per ISO material classification. Verify toolholder bore size and clamping style before installation.
Threading inserts of this type are installed and indexed by trained machinists or CNC turning technicians. Power down and lock out the spindle before changing or indexing any insert. Use the correct torque wrench and insert screw specified by the toolholder manufacturer — do not over-torque the clamping screw, as this can fracture the carbide insert. Confirm insert seating and thread pitch setup against a known thread gauge or GO/NO-GO gauge before committing to a full production run.
