The ISCAR 5901951 is a solid carbide laydown threading insert engineered for external ISO thread profiles with a 1.00 mm pitch. Built on the ISCARTHREAD series platform, this insert carries the IC908 manufacturer grade and a PVD-applied TiAlN coating for extended tool life in demanding threading operations. With a 3/8 inch (0.375 inch decimal) inscribed circle and a thickness of 0.143 inches, it seats securely in compatible laydown threading toolholders. The right-hand orientation suits standard external thread cutting on CNC lathes and manual turning centers. Machinists and CNC programmers working with ISO-threaded workpieces across a wide range of materials will find this insert an appropriate production-grade solution.
This insert is rated for universal primary workpiece material compatibility, covering material grades H, K, M, N, P, and S. That range includes carbon and alloy steels, stainless steels, cast irons, non-ferrous metals, high-temperature alloys, and hardened materials. It is well-suited for external threading operations in both production and maintenance environments where consistent ISO thread form accuracy is required. The IC908 grade and PVD TiAlN finish combine to deliver thermal resistance and edge stability across varying cutting conditions.
Designed as a replacement-style laydown threading insert for ISCARTHREAD series external threading toolholders that accept the 16ER insert style with a 3/8 inch inscribed circle and ISO 13399-compliant geometry.
This insert is installed by qualified machinists or CNC toolroom technicians. Before changing inserts, confirm the machine spindle is stopped and all axis motion is locked out per facility lockout/tagout procedures. Use the correct torx or clamp screw driver specified for the toolholder to avoid damaging the seating pocket. Inspect the toolholder pocket for chips or debris before seating the new insert, as contamination will affect thread form accuracy.
