The ISCAR 5901906 is a laydown threading insert designed for internal threading operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Manufactured from solid carbide with a TiAlN PVD coating, this insert carries the IC908 manufacturer grade and is engineered for right-hand internal partial profile 60-degree threads. It covers a threading range of 48 to 16 TPI (0.50 to 1.50 mm pitch), making it suitable for a broad range of thread sizes in a single insert. The 1/4-inch inscribed circle and 0.126-inch thickness conform to the 11IR insert style. Licensed machinists, CNC operators, and tool and die technicians are the primary users of this insert.
This insert is applied to internal threading on workpieces spanning multiple material categories, including steel, cast iron, stainless steel, non-ferrous alloys, and high-temperature alloys, as indicated by the universal primary workpiece material classification with ISO material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S. It is part of the ISCARTHREAD series and is suited for production threading in both job shop and high-volume manufacturing environments where consistent thread form and long tool life are required.
Designed for use in toolholders that accept the 11IR laydown threading insert style. Compatible with internal threading applications across ISO material groups H, K, M, N, P, and S as defined by the ISCARTHREAD series designation.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician with the machine in a locked-out, zero-energy state before insert changes. Use the appropriate torque wrench and ISCAR-specified clamping screw to secure the insert in the toolholder pocket without over-tightening, which can crack the carbide substrate. Verify insert seating and thread form with a thread gauge before returning the machine to production. Dispose of worn inserts according to applicable shop safety and carbide recycling procedures.
