The ISCAR 5901523 is a laydown-style solid carbide threading insert designed for internal partial-profile 60-degree thread cutting. Manufactured to the 16IRM insert style specification and coated with TiAlN via a PVD process under the IC908 grade, this insert delivers high wear resistance and thermal stability during threading operations. It covers a thread-per-inch range of 48 to 8 TPI and a metric pitch range of 0.50 to 3.00 mm, making it a versatile choice across a broad range of threading applications. The insert is right-hand cut, carries an M chipbreaker designation, and is part of the ISCARTHREAD series. It is installed by machinists and CNC lathe operators in precision metalworking environments.
This insert is suited for internal threading on lathes and turning centers handling a wide range of workpiece materials. The IC908 grade with PVD TiAlN coating is optimized for universal application across material groups including steels, stainless steels, cast irons, non-ferrous metals, high-temperature alloys, and hardened materials. The 60-degree partial profile geometry supports standard unified and metric thread forms. This insert is well matched to production and job-shop environments where a single insert must perform across varied material grades without frequent grade changes.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard production insert for 16IR-series internal threading toolholders accepting a 3/8 inch inscribed circle laydown insert. Compatible with workpiece material grades C1, C2, C6, C7 and ISO material groups H, K, M, N, P, and S.
Installation is performed by machinists and CNC tooling technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the toolholder is removed or secured before indexing or replacing the insert. Seat the insert firmly against the toolholder pocket locating surfaces and torque the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer specification. Verify insert orientation for right-hand cut direction before resuming operation.
