The ISCAR 5901305 is a laydown threading insert designed for internal thread cutting on CNC lathes and turning centers. It features a 60-degree partial profile geometry suited for cutting unified and metric thread forms on internal bores. Manufactured from solid carbide with a PVD-applied TiCN/TiN coating, this right-hand insert handles a thread pitch range of 0.50 to 3.00 mm (48 to 8 TPI). The 3/8 inch (0.375 inch) inscribed circle and 0.143 inch thickness conform to the 16IR insert style. Machinists and toolroom technicians install this insert into compatible ISCAR ISCARTHREAD boring bar holders for production threading operations.
This insert is suited for internal threading on workpieces made from cast iron, stainless steel, and carbon or alloy steel, covering ISO material codes K, M, and P. Typical applications include producing internal threaded features on turned components in job shop, production machining, and maintenance environments. The partial profile geometry allows the insert to cut a range of thread pitches without a dedicated full-profile insert for each pitch, making it a practical choice for shops threading multiple specifications. Right-hand cutting direction suits standard lathe spindle forward rotation.
Designed for use in ISCAR ISCARTHREAD series internal threading holders accepting the 16IR insert style. Specific toolholder compatibility should be verified against the ISCAR ISCARTHREAD holder lineup for 16IR laydown inserts.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine in a locked-out, zero-energy state before any insert change. Use the appropriate torx or hex key specified by the toolholder manufacturer to seat the insert securely without over-torquing the clamping screw. Confirm insert seating and shim condition before returning the machine to service. Follow applicable shop safety procedures and machine tool manufacturer guidelines during setup.
