The ISCAR 5791848 is a ceramic, uncoated turning insert designed for high-speed material removal and finishing operations on cast iron and hardened materials. Manufactured to the CNGA431T geometry with an 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape and a negative side clearance, this insert is engineered for rigidity and dimensional consistency. It carries the IN22 manufacturer grade, which is optimized for high wear resistance in cast iron (K) applications and moderate wear resistance with toughness in hardened materials (H). The insert conforms to ISO 13399 standards and fits securely using a clamp and pin holding method. It is sold individually with a minimum order quantity of 10 pieces.
This insert is suited for finishing operations on cast iron components and hardened workpieces in both production and job-shop environments. The CNGA431T geometry, combined with the uncoated ceramic substrate, supports high cutting speeds where coolant-free or dry-cutting conditions are preferred. Machinists and CNC turning specialists working with brake rotors, pump housings, cylinder liners, and similar cast iron or hardened-steel parts will find this insert appropriate for light, precise finishing passes. It is compatible with toolholders designed for CNGA-style inserts with a negative rake configuration.
Designed for use in CNGA-style turning toolholders with clamp and pin holding method accepting a negative rake insert. ANSI insert code CNGA431, ISO insert code CNGA120404. Compatible with material grades C3 and C4 per ISO classification.
This insert should be installed and indexed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing or indexing inserts. Inspect the toolholder pocket and seating surface for debris or damage before seating the insert, as ceramic inserts are brittle and sensitive to interrupted cuts or improper clamping. Do not use this insert on interrupted cuts or in conditions that exceed the rated maximum depth of cut.
