Carrying manufacturer grade IN23 with an Al2O3 and TiCN coating, this insert features an 80-degree diamond shape (insert shape code C) and a 0.5-inch inscribed circle. The corner radius measures 3/64 inch (0.0472 inch decimal), and insert thickness is 3/16 inch (0.1874 inch decimal). It belongs to ISCAR's Isoturn series and is held via clamp and pin. Licensed machinists and CNC operators performing precision turning work install this insert on compatible toolholders.
This insert is engineered for turning cast iron and hard materials, making it suited for finishing and semi-finishing passes where conventional carbide inserts fall short. The CNGA geometry with a T chip breaker and N clearance code (0-degree relief angle) supports stable cutting at elevated surface speeds typical of ceramic machining applications. It is appropriate for industrial production environments running horizontal and vertical turning centers where thermal and abrasion resistance are critical to tool life.

Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the turret is indexed to a safe position before seating or indexing the insert. Confirm the toolholder pocket and clamping pin are clean and free of chips before installing the insert to maintain proper seating and runout. Follow the toolholder manufacturer's clamping torque specifications and do not exceed the rated maximum depth of cut for ceramic inserts, as shock loading can cause fracture.
