The ISCAR 5698268 is a solid carbide milling insert in the SEMT 12T3AFTN-76 IC910 configuration, designed for use in indexable milling cutters in metalworking applications. This single-sided, square-shaped insert features an AlTiN coating applied via PVD process, which provides heat resistance and wear performance when cutting steel and cast iron. It carries the IC910 manufacturer grade and conforms to ANSI and ISO 13399 standards. The insert delivers four cutting edges per piece, a positive rake geometry, and a T-Land cutting edge style. Maximum depth of cut is 0.256 inches (6.50 mm). It is installed and serviced by machinists and CNC tooling technicians.
This insert is intended for milling operations on steel and cast iron workpieces in both production and job-shop environments. It is compatible with the ISCARMILL F45ST cutter series and suits applications where a 90-degree included angle and positive rake geometry are required. The screw-held mounting method and neutral hand orientation make it straightforward to index in compatible toolholders. Typical applications include face milling, shoulder milling, and general-purpose metal removal where consistent edge life and chip control are priorities.
Designed for use with the ISCARMILL F45ST cutter series. Insert size code 12T3 with an inscribed circle of 0.518 inches and a 90-degree included angle. Material grade classifications C2, C3, and C6 cover the primary workpiece materials of steel and cast iron.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Before indexing or replacing inserts, ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out per facility lockout/tagout procedures. Use the appropriate torque driver for the clamping screw — refer to the toolholder manufacturer specifications for correct screw torque. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before seating a new insert to ensure proper contact and runout.
