The ISCAR 5697462 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying the ANSI and ISO 13399 designation LNKX 150608ANTN MM IC908. It belongs to the TANGMILL series and features a butterfly (LNKX) insert shape with a double-sided, neutral-hand design that delivers four usable cutting edges per insert. The IC908 grade is a submicron carbide substrate with a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process, a combination suited for high cutting temperatures and abrasion-resistant applications. The cutting edge uses a T-Land style with a negative rake angle of 27 degrees, and an MM chip breaker geometry. Maximum depth of cut is 7.50 mm (0.295 inches). Typical installers are CNC machinists and tooling setup technicians working in production or job-shop environments.
This insert is designed for milling operations across a wide range of workpiece materials, including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials, covering ISO material codes P, M, K, S, and H. It is compatible with the F45LN cutter series. The MM chip breaker geometry is optimized for general-purpose milling passes where controlled chip formation is required across varying feed rates and cut depths. The double-sided configuration allows the insert to be indexed to a fresh cutting edge without removing the cutter body from the machine, reducing tool change time in high-production setups.
Designed for use with the ISCAR TANGMILL series F45LN cutter bodies. Insert is held by screw-clamping method. Verify cutter body pocket specifications and screw size before installation.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct torque driver specified by the cutter body manufacturer for the clamping screw — do not overtighten, as this can crack the carbide insert or damage the pocket seating surface. Inspect the pocket seat and clamping screw for chips or wear each time the insert is indexed.
