The ISCAR 5668936 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying the ANSI designation FFQ4 SOMT 120516T IC808. It is a square-profile, single-sided insert designed for high-feed face milling operations within the MILL4FEED cutter series. The insert features a neutral hand orientation, a positive rake geometry, and a T-Land cutting edge style that supports stable entry into interrupted and continuous cuts. The IC808 grade uses a submicron carbide substrate with a multilayer TiAlN/AlTiN/TiN Sumotec PVD coating applied by physical vapor deposition, giving it strong wear resistance and thermal stability. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install these inserts in compatible MILL4FEED toolholders for production milling of ferrous and exotic alloy workpieces.
This insert is suited for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials, covering ISO material groups P, M, K, S, and H. It is intended for use in production CNC milling environments where a maximum depth of cut of 0.0590 inches applies. The MILL4FEED series is typically deployed on vertical and horizontal machining centers in both roughing and semi-finishing passes where high feed rates and controlled chip formation are required. The T-Land edge preparation and positive rake reduce cutting forces, which is advantageous when machining difficult-to-cut superalloys and titanium.
Designed for use in ISCAR MILL4FEED series FFQ4 cutter bodies that accept SOMT 120516 style inserts secured by screw clamping.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the machine is placed in an e-stop or lockout/tagout state before changing inserts. Seat the insert fully into the pocket before threading the clamping screw, and verify the insert is flush and correctly indexed prior to test cuts. Inspect the pocket seat and screw threads for wear or debris at each insert change to maintain positioning accuracy.
