The ISCAR 5668494 is a solid carbide milling insert designed for high-feed milling applications in demanding materials. It carries the ANSI designation H1200 HXCU 0606-HPR IC840 and belongs to the HELI12FEED series. The insert features a hexagon shape with 12 cutting edges, maximizing tool life per insert. It is coated via PVD with a multilayer AlTiN, TiAlSiN, and TiSiN coating in the IC840 grade, optimized for cutting stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. Thickness measures 0.281 inches (7.15 mm) with a corner radius of 0.063 inches (1.60 mm). Right-hand cutting geometry with a negative rake and sharp cutting edge style suits aggressive, high-feed toolpaths.
This insert is intended for use in FHX-series cutter bodies compatible with the HELI12FEED platform. It is held in place by a screw and is double-sided, delivering up to 12 usable cutting edges per insert. The HPR chip breaker geometry is suited for roughing and semi-finishing operations in stainless steel (ISO material group M) and superalloys and titanium (ISO material group S). Typical installations are found in CNC machining centers used in aerospace, oil and gas, and precision manufacturing environments. The maximum depth of cut is 0.118 inches (3.00 mm), making this insert well matched to high-feed, low-depth strategies on difficult-to-machine workpiece materials.
Designed for use in ISCAR FHX-series cutter bodies within the HELI12FEED platform. Insert size code is 0606 with an inscribed circle of 0.5858 inches (14.88 mm). Verify cutter body pocket specifications before installation.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians on CNC milling equipment. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the cutter body is secured before seating or replacing inserts. Use the manufacturer-specified torque driver for the clamping screw to avoid over-torquing the insert pocket. Inspect pocket seating surfaces for debris or wear before installing a new insert.
